In typical Burberry Style Christopher
Bailey kept the English theme running throughout his SS14 collection, with
exquisite embellishment and pastel tones, lace detailing and cashmere cardis,
some thought Baileys collection to look quite dated but I personally thought he
had updated a typically dated look with underwear as outerwear making an
appearance bringing the English rose in to the 21st century. And of
course it wouldn’t be a Burberry show without showcasing one of their signature
Macs and in my mind he didn’t disappoint, With the Macs slouchy silhouettes
accompanied by classic asymmetrical lines, I reckon Burberry has set trend
staples for the coming months. Baileys take on pencil skirts in particular with
this collection are certain to trickle down to high street, overlaying textures
and heavy embellishment has put a real twist on the once ever so simple skirt.
Many other designers this year have updated
the look with sheer fabric and jewel details no.21 and Blumarni to name a few
so the updated pencil skirt will no doubt be a strong look for the months to
come.
