Vintage Festival at The SouthBank Centre

Over my long summer off, one of the events i went to was The Vintage Festival, usually held at the hayward, but this year at the South bank Centre. The whole of South Bank was filled with lovers of the 1950s, dressed in elaborate costume, as well people influenced by the 60's, 70's and 80's, it was literally like walking through eras! the air was filled with songs from vera lyn, tina turner and the Beatles. outside the south bank was one of the best vintage markets i've ever been too, literally every kind of vintage you could wish for, my kind of reto T-shirts next to war time suitcases with label tags of who had previously owned them. sick patterned jumpsuits form the 80s with burlesque type lingerie. The whole feel of the festival was just amazing, i couldn't have thought of a better way to spend my saturday. And when inside the centre, it was like walking through time, firstly with a 1920's dance floor completely with big band and couples swaying the day away, then the cheese room with 1960's brown crush sofas and choose your cheese. With vinyl everywhere, where you pick the vinyl and the dj played it. The SouthBank Centre in every inch had been transformed into moments from the past, and as the day wound down, Jo Wood, put on a fashion show, showcasing some of her own favourite vintage pieces from her own wardrobe. overall a wicked day, i would recommend it to anyone remotely interested in fashion, a lovely day out, definitely gonna get a ticket for next year!
